preparing for frontend overhaul-advice? 120-130 1965

Hello All,

Over the holidays I managed to get my 122 driveable. Had to track down an overheating problem that turned out to be a defective new thermostat.

However the first drive wasn't exactly a moment of delight. Found that the car likes to "swim" in a big way. OK, not a huge problem. I had planned on going through the front end anyway but was hoping to avoid it until summer. But I was preparing to refurbish/convert to dual circuit brakes so it looks like I'll just be going deeper.

The car came with bushing kits for both front and rear I'll drop in (IPD parts not installed). And I'm definitely planning on checking the ball joints as described in Haynes, and replacing if necessary. Also be checking tie rod ends, but other than visual inspection is there a procedure for this.

Just wondering about things that Haynes may not mention, things easily overlooked, stuff books don't tell you. So any advice out there? Should I just farm this out to a front end specialist?

Thanks again,

Mario
