How crucual is the valve adjustment on a 760 turbo? 700 1988

How crucial if the valve adjustment, and to what degree does it effect compression? Valves for cylinders 1,2, and 3 are about eight thousandths too tight and these cyinders are 30 lbs. lover than cyl. 4, the valves for which are right on the money. The car burns no oil in 5k miles of highway driving. Do I need a valve adjustment or a valve job? Any advice would be appreciated.
