Ratcheting sound fron driver-side front wheel 200 1984

I just had my left front bearings repacked (someone explain exactly what that entails) and recently I've been hearing a ratchet-type sound from the left-front wheel when I turn the steering wheel left...almost like a dull creaking sound.

The car drives fine otherwise. Doesn't pull to the left. Is this something I should have looked at PDQ?
