945 Alternator Rebuild 900 1993

So my 945 turbo is getting up toward 170,000 miles.

In the old days I would just replace the alternator brush assembly on my 745T for a quick low cost rebuild. Has anyone done a similar proceedure on a 945 alternator? Does not seem to have the same brush/regulator assembly as the earlier 700s. Does one have to take the whole unit apart to replace the bruches.
