Are AW-70 Trans interchangeable? 200 1987

Have a '87 240 dl wagon. Can I use later model (240's up till '93)to get a tranny from? I'd like to find the latest yr possible to get the least mile possible. Any reputable shops to buy from and any model yrs to stay away from? Or are they the same trannys throughout production.
