I am looking at a major purchase here, for me anyway. I have spent less than $1000 for all of my previous volvos, and have not been disappointed. I bought an 82 DL w/ 120k on it 1 year ago and it has been a dream, I recently bought a '87 760T for $600!!!, wouldnt start when I purchased it,installed new power stage, sold for nice profit!!

Now I am looking at an 89 240 Wagon w/ 130k. This one for keeps. The seller is asking 3400 but says he is negotiable. BTW blue book value is $3050. According to the seller, it doesnt leak or burn oil, no rust, and has been regulary manitained by an independent Volvo mechanic w/ 20+ years experience. Given my past experiences, I probably shouldnt be so nervous about making this plunge, but I am.

What can/should I check before purchasing this vehicle, besides checking the fluids and road testing it.
