Quality of Brembo/Zimmerman/Balo brake disc compared to dealer supplied Volvo? 900 1994

I just installed Brembo front brake discs with Volvo brand pads and I found them significantly less grippy (even after 1000 mi) than the original Volvo discs. I noticed the IPD says they have found Brembo's to be longer lasting and good quality. I think I remember years ago BMW said its discs were designed not for long life so they would give better stopping power. Has anyone else noticed this difference with OEM supplier Volvo discs? Which brand is closest to Volvo original installed discs?
