760 aw71 toast 700 1989

the tranny seems toe up. reverse works, forward no. (unless very high rpm and slight down sloap; if i could get it to speed 2nd gear kicked in as normal). 760 gle v6.

got a used aw71 from boneyard $78 w/$10 core. no idea if its any good. it is from a 85 760 v6. appear identical. the 85 has no drainplug and (not sure) no sensor on top of bellhousing like may 89's does (not sure, maybe its at the back of the engine not on bellhousing)

anyway, is there a way of telling whether the one I bought is anygood before i kill myself putting it in? also should i put it in (are they the same) bothe mine and junkyard donor car had 172k on them.

mine had a bad leak out of the rear seal. could refreshing the oil for a month rather than fixing seal, led to it's demise. what are the life expectancies of these things. is my 85 tranny likely on its deathbed too?
