RE: what's best for my 740 turbo 700 1987

I have a simple question. We have an older car. Some of wires on the wire harness are exposed. I heard that was a problem for volvo's 85-87 year model that the insulation on the wires was not very good. Has anyone heard of a recall for something like that? We have an intermittent problem with the car. It will just die out while driving the car. It's pretty dangerous when you have to pull over on a busy interstate, restart the car then get back on the highway again. We were told bad wire harness could be the problem. But they are not for sure.
I'd also like to know, if you have a car parked in the garage, and there are mice in the garage, would it be better to keep the car outside? instead of where there might be mice that might get up into the car and damage wires? I was told that there would be more of a change of mice outside, but I have a hard time believing that, since it's so cold out there, they usually want to get inside a building. What would you do? Thanks.
