what is the best synthetic oil for the m46 trans, goin to change soon? 700

last post for the day i promise,
i have always stuck to regular castrol oil in my volvos, even in my junkers. but my 760 has manual trans and is in great shape and want to keep it that way. so what do you recomend for synthetic oil? should i put regular type f in first and run for a week or so and get some of the excess dirt and gunk out before putting in the synthetic.
