hello people. new(er) member here. I bought a black 242 turbo about 6 months ago for what ammounts to about 5 or $600 in cash and some things traded. It has the 4spd w/od, power windows and locks, and a sunroof. The car is at a point in it's life (around 160K mi.) where it needs serious help. It has terminal cancer in the two wells on either side of the trunkpan, the left corner of the driver's floorpan, the driver's door and fender, and the front edge of the hood. The trunk lid is dimpled from someone slamming it on something too tall for the trunk. It needs about every bushing imaginable, front and back. The motor is seeping a small ammount of water into the oil, presumably from lack of a proper PCV setup. The turbo is currently blown, but I have a newer water cooled unit I bought for $40.00. And lastly, the driveline is verrrry loose and needs a clutch and a thorough going over. The car is driven daily. All this said, parts can be had CHEAP at a local U-pull it junkyard, and I can do most of the work myself. I am a sandblaster at a SAAB garage, but we restore all kinds of vehicles (including semi's and heavy machinery). I plan on tearing the car down completley to a bare chassis and soda blasting the bigger body panels, then using white sand on the rest. I'll prime and paint the entire car inside and out to the correct black. The reason I have kept you here this long is that I have tossed arount the idea of putting up a few web pages somewhere on the net with pictures of the car as the project runs, and also a message board. I'd probably be starting around april or may. Is this something there might be interest for? I have read the posts here for quite some timem and I have to say that Brickboard is THE Volvo owner's BEST resource, printed or otherwise. I look forward to corresponding with this collective again.
