ZF tranny - 1.st gear sleeping 700

Hi folks!
I have the ZF tranny.
Sometimes I noticed a bad acceleration.
Sometimes I noticed a hard push in tranny.
I think I found out the reason.
When braking the tranny does not shift down fast enough -its sleeping.
When I approach e.g. the traffic light the tranny stays
in 2.nd gear. After a complete stop - then rolling a few yards
the tranny shifts back in 1.st and everything is fine.
If I accelerate immediately from the stop the tranny stays in 2nd gear.
I came now to the solution I stop about one car length before
and let the car roll slowly the last 5 yards. Then the tranny shifts back.
It might be this behaviour is responsible for some bad acceleration issues/problems discussed earlier on this board.
Also when it stays in 2nd gear and I shift to N
the tranny/drive train has a very hard push I can feel.
I can also downshift it manual to "1" and everything is fine.
I am not so sure yet if this problem is temperature-related
or depending on different conditions. I'll watch it.
Last flush was one year ago.
Is this the first sympton of going sour ?
Any ideas?
