For some time, I have had a problem with my 740 Turbo intermittently cutting out during hard acceleration. It is most apparent in first gear but it sometimes happens in some of the other lower gears as well.
I am not revving the engine up enough to engage the 6000-rpm redline limiter when this happens although the heistation feels very much as if I were.
During normal driving or overtaking manouvers, the car runs perfectly.
I have had a couple of topnotch Volvo specialists look at it but so far no one has been able to pinpoint the cause of the problem. Of course it generally seems to choose not to cut out just at the moment when I need it to (meaning when I am trying to get someone to troubleshoot the problem).
This is a one-owner car (myself) so I am very familiar with its history.
If it helps, this particular car has a manual transmission.
Any ideas on this one?
