I just bought a 1985 740 turbo. The previous owner had a timing belt break and I changed the belt. I wanted to see if the engine would turn over so I tried to start the engine without the intercooler and radiator hooked up, along with the belts. I didn't have any gas going to the injectors. I put a bit into the intercooler hose going to the manifold and whola it started. My question is, and please forgive my ignorance, do I need to have intercooler and radiator connected for my fuel pumps and relay to work? Or have I a relay and/or fuel pump malfunction? Thanks in advance.
