Fuel Filter on tight 700 1991

so i'm all ready to change the fuel filter on my 740T and when i get @ it and try to loosen the line that goes from the fuel filter to the fuel pump and the fuel filer to the engine, i can't! i tryed for about 10 mins with a wrench on the filter and then on the bolt and for the life of me i can't get them loose. Are they supposed to be on this tight? how do i go about getting them off? i'm going to take my car to my friends shop where i can hopefully use an impact to break it loose and or just some better tools. i'm kind of afraid to use an impact on something like this not knowing how tight it should be.
i have the repair manual for my car and it makes it seem so nice and easy.. if only they knew. any thing i should know before i go @ this again? i know that if i use an impact to make sure the neg batt cable is pulled to make sure there is no air bag that goes off. but what else is there to know about getting it off with norm tools?

thnx for time
mike
