Rich to lean fixed, now rpms fluxuate 3sec faster, 1sec slow 200 1991

Thank you all for your feedback. I really appreciate everyones willingness to share their help with Volvo problems. I now have 3, had 2 others that we sold over the years and one that I totaled. This 1991 is a replacement for that one.

The shop fixed the problem. The temp sensor was the cause. After replacing that, it still would not start. They found that the coil was bad. I think it went bad from from all the attempts to start with settings wrong and running rich for over 150 miles. Plugs were fowled badly. I paid the bill ($455), it started fine but once warmed up (after a 1/4 mile drive to the gas station)it was reving up in rpms for 3 secs and then slowing down for about 1 sec. then back up for 3, on and on. Even when driving it does this, but it is most noticeable when idleing. At a cold start this morning it was fine. I let the car warm up while getting ready for work and when I came out it was at it again. The shop said they would look at it but I'm not sure I want to bring it back and pay more for this. It should have left them not doing this.

Any thoughts on what would cause this?
