Dear Bricksters,

I have a broken cruise control vacuum servo on my '87 760GLE with 190K miles. The cruise control has not been working for about a year or so. Since it is not a crucial function for us, I just let it set there without doing much about it. Last weekend I crawled under the car for my leaking steering rack examination (posted it here and a rebuilt rack is on the way from JAC Rack), and then poped up the hood for a regular fluid level checks etc. That was the time I saw this broken vacuum servo. It is a black rubber device setting on top of the engine with one side connects to throttle body and the other side to vacuum pump (?). It is broken into two pieces. Anyway, I guess that's the reason why the cruise control is not working. I have been checking around for the vacuum servo. The price is ranging from $150 (new) to $25 (used; Frank's Foreign Auto). I am not sure how long the used parts can last with rubber material on it.

My questions:

1. Is it a good idea for a used vacuum servo? What should I ask them before place the order?

2. Has anyone replaced this device before? Any other place I should try to get a new one with reasonable price? (have tried AllEuro, Southwest Auto, Volvo World, VPI parts and IPD)

3. Would any adjustment or calibration involve after replacement?
