Hey everyone. I'm still having two problems with my car, and I'm a little stumped, so I decided to turn here.
1. After driving on the freeway, when I put my automatic '89 244DL in either Neutral or Park, my RPM will climb to 1200-1400rpm. In 1-2-D-R, it will idle normally 900rpm. If I turn it off for a minute and then restart, it will idle normally 750-900rpm. I'm stumped. The throttle body looks clean. I disconnected the hose going to the IAC motor/valve and cleaned it, also I sprayed some carb cleaner into the IAC. No luck. Should I try WD-40 instead?
2. My temperature gauge is still acting up on me. It's not spiking, but it's having a problem reporting my temperature in cooler weather, say 65 degrees. If it does budge, it'll hit an 8 o'clock position max. When it's warmer 70+, it'll float around normal level. If it gets <65 out, it won't even budge, not even after 45 minutes in traffic. When it does this, I'll pull over and check the radiator hoses, they are pretty warm. I checked the yellow sensor wire's spade connector connected to the block. It is tight. Could it be my new thermostat (it was the same degree as my original), is it the temp compensation board, or could it be something else?
Thanks for the help.
