Why stick with Volvo 900

I've been driving my stock 94 940 for a lil while now. Besides some minor problems with the overdrive the car has been very reliable. But now, i really want something with more balls. My questions is, Why should i stick with my volvo, rather then selling it and going american muscle, or with a rice burner. It seems like, both choices are cheaper and more abundant. Please, proove me wrong.
I've read about the ford 5.0 conversions, but are they really worth the work?
