'92 240 breaking sway bar links! 200

After I got my '92 245 this summer I put in the IPD sway bars from the '88 245 which wa being retired. In September one of the OEM Volvo sway bar links broke, and I replaced both sides with ones purchased from FCP Groton (at $12 ea vs. $55 from Volvo). Since then BOTH replacement links have broken; the second one ended up puncturing the front brake line for a dramatic surprise yesterday! Because of time pressures I was forced to but OEM Volvo replacement links, but I can't understand why I've broken 3 links in the last 5 months. The '88 245 had the exact same bar and the OEM Volvo links with the IPD bushings, and suffered no failures in 2+ years. The '92 has had the same bar installed (with replacement urethane link bushings)... and I drive with verve but certainly not at 10/10ths. Both the old and the 'new' cars were stocke except for IPD sway bars and overload rear springs, and Boge Turbo Gas shocks & struts. Any ideas as to why I'm breaking links all of a sudden?
