I just got a volvo wagon w/ a solex carb (manual choke). The car starts fine, runs smooth for a few seconds (with choke in or out) and then starts chuggin' away as though it is running on only two cylinders. If I use the gas pedal to change the RPM it seems to run smoother. I must keep poking at the gas pedal to keep the car runing.
Once the vehicle warms up, it will run smoother but it is still a rough idle. I trimmed up the idle speed adjustment, tweaked the f/a mixture screw to make it run smoother but the cold start problem is still there regardless if the choke is used. I also notice that while the car is running rough, detonation (knocking) can be heard. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
