Here's the situation:
Saturday I changed the timing belt, v-belts, rotor and cap. In the process, the plastic radiator croaked.
The car ran, apparently normally, long enough to pull down my friend's driveway and back up into a parking spot.
Today swapped out radiators with a new Nissens (an obvious improvement).
Now, the car cranks, but won't start. Timing belt is still there, as far as I can tell by pulling back the cover. The rotor and cap seem correctly seated. Pulling the coil wire doesn't affect the quality of the cranking. I suspect lack of spark, but why and what to check?
I'm open to all theories, crackpot and otherwise.
