Loose power stage, 87 740 GLE 700

The power stage heat sink is held to the inner fender wall by two sheet metal bolts. The holes in the fender wall have worn and the bolts stripped/ can't be tightened. While the sink stays on the fender, and doesn't exactly flop around (about 3 mil of play) it isn't tight. Will this effect the function/ life of the component? Any suggestions for a remedy?
