I cant get my stock stereo out of dash 700

I just got a 91 740, non turbo wagon. the stereo doesnt work, (it is a cheap looking tape deck from volvo), I dont care because I have a very nice panasonic cd player that I will install. just as soon as I can get the old stereo out with out a crowbar. It is mounted just under the heater and fan shiches respectivly and just under is the cigarette lighter and a sotrage shelf, and then under that is the ashtray. I have removed the ashtray and fuse cover but I cant figure out how the get the whole assembly out. the radio says anti theft so i guess something tricky is going on. never would have suspected it would be harder than my saab 9000 to play with inside oh well. please help me.
