A whirr, a whine, a singing 240 or far-off police on 240DL1990 200

I recently bought a 240DL 1990. It consistently makes a whining/whirring/singing sound in the first 4 minutes of driving after having been parked. That is the only time that it makes this noise. The sound comes from "all-around" and sounds like a belt-whirr or possible ghost police pulling me over. Any thoughts before I take the poor thing to the mechs?
