OIL TRAP GASKET? 200 1987

Is there supposed to be a gasket where the oil trap fits on the block?
There's an O ring on the larger outlet. Should there be anything else?
I can't find an illustration or info that there's even an Oring but it was there when I took it off. I cleaned the oil trap inside and out and reinstalled with new flametrap.

Also, how difficult is it to do a valve clearnce adjustment and are there any special tools needed?
