Model: Volvo 740 Turbo 1986. Country Sydney Australia
Problem seems to occur in hot weather (ie when temperature is above 25c) and air con on.
Symptoms: going along OK then car starts to miss, top speed drops to 10mph for a minute then engine stops altogether. Switching off air con has no effect.
Will not restart, engine cranks but seems that the fuel supply is cut off. If I remove the fuel return pipe from fuel pressure regulator, no fuel comes out. No vacuum release noise if fuel cap is released. After 40 to 60 minutes, car restarts as if nothing has happened
Have checked Fuel pump filter, this is OK
Fuel pump relay fuse ran hot 'til I resoldered joints and drilled holes in casing.
The air con fuse still runs hot but relay is sealed unit
Do you have any suggestions what I should look at next?
thanks
