Volvo 780 Radio 700

I have a 1989 volvo 780 with I guess the TD 6141. I would like to buy a used one off a ebay but I have heard that the wires on the TD6141 radio changed depending on the year. Is this true. Maybe I should just dump the thing and start with a whole new radio setup. Do the faceplates they sell work out ok or does it look like an unprofesional installation..thanks...Leo
