More Water Woes !! 700 1998

Hello,

Only 40 inches of rain at my house since Oct 1 and the old 740 has been outside through it all. Earlier in the week I noticed front and rear carpets soaking wet on the driver's side. After researching 700 FAQ I think I traced the leak down to the fresh air vent plug behind the kick plate on the driver's side. I bought a new plug and have not removed the old one yet due to time constraints, but while picking up the new plug at the dealership, I talked to a service advisor and he said that those plugs should not leak and I should probably pull off the windshield wiper cowl and do some further trouble shooting. Can anyone tell me if it is normal for water to drain behind that plug from the cowl area? Water definitely comes into the vehicle from the plug and all appeared dry in the forward and upper footwell area. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Jim Hummel
