Getting ready to buy? 700

Hi all...
Going to look at a car today. Have a question or two.
It's an '89 760 Turbo Intercooler wagon with 168,000 miles. I really want a wagon so this sounds like a nice one.

1.) Is the 760 Turbo Intercooler the same diehard engine as the 240/740? (B230F/B230FT)

2.)Is this particular vehicle as reliable as the 240/740 that I keep reading so much about?

3.)Any known major problems with this model/year?

The car sounds really great..guy has taken care of it, but who knows until I see it. Just want to make sure I'm looking at a good reliable engine.
I know he's done all sorts of things already to the car, and has receipts. Motor mounts, rebuilt the turbo, transmission mounts, all hoses, brakes, shocks, everything works electrical except the power antennae needs a new mast (not that expensive). He also said he put in stuff for better road handling, i.e. gas shocks, some sort of sway bar on the back, etc. (didn't know what half of this meant, but he said it makes it handle better on the road)

He's asking $3,000. Fair price?? of course I am going to offer lower..any suggestions where I should start?

Thanks,
Bud
