another one about brake rotors 200 1986

ok,I've found out much since my last question about these Brembo rotors I have. The problem is that the rotors are too large in diameter (not thickness) by almost exactly 8mm. Thus, when I put the caliper over it and try to bolt it up, it pushes and slides the rotor out of position, since the rotor is pushing against the back wall of the caliper. so my question is: would it pose a problem to take the rotors to a machine shop and have them take off 4mm all around the outside of the rotors, thus removing 8mm in diameter? Would that cause problems with heat treatment or anything? I think they'll be a lot better off than my non-vented rotors that are currently on, but thought i'd check for any major problems before finding a shop to do this. The guy who bought them and then sold them without using them only checked the thickness and not the diameter when buying them. thanks!
