89 tranny dead? 700

i was driving my car today and it vibrated on and off for a while and then eventually i think something happened to the transmition. when i press on the gas the car would move very little and now the car doesnt move at all when i press the gas but the engine revs up as if its in neutral. what do you think the problem is and how much do u think it would cost to fix?
