I'm currently in the the process of baselining my son's recently acquired 85 b230E 240. Car only has 120000miles and runs well.

Engine is so dirty that a thick black film coats the camshaft.

A synthetic with it's detergent capability may clean it over time, however I am looking for a quicker more effective means.
