Towing a 2400 lb boat 700 1991

I am sure sombody out there is an expert on this subject. Can I tow a boat through the Mohave Desert (120 degees F.) 400 miles round trip - 2 or 3 times a year without killing my car? I have a 740 turbo wagon (140k miles) with no modifications - yet. Can you recommend upgrades to suspension, etc. P.S. my boat's tongue weight is about 300 lbs. Thanks for any advice.
