Keep those battery terminals & clamps clean

Just a reminder to keep your battery terminals and clamps clean. I found out the hard way this weekend. I'm driving along and gradually loose power, chugging to a stop. I thought it was the fuel system relay, so I popped in my spare. Still no dice.

I got the car home with a tow, and figured out that the battery was dead. I was going to pop in my spare alternator, but found that the battery terminals and clamps were very dirty on the inside. On the outside they looked fine. What a difference after cleaning them.

What should be the frequency of cleaning them, about twice a year?
