I'm having a problem that is new to my 1983 Volvo 240 and am hoping the collective knowledge on this forum can point me in a direction for repair. This car did not come with the coolant level sensor - instead it simply has a plug in that port (located on upper driver's side of the radiator). Lately, the plug keeps blowing out (along with a good bit of coolant!). I have tried finding a suitable replacement part, and everything I have tried also keeps blowing out. So far, so good in that the car has been close to home or office and has not overheated when this happens, but that's only a matter of time if I can't get a lasting fix. Is this an indication of a larger problem I should be addressing? Has anyone had this problem and if so, how was it solved? I'm having trouble finding a sensor plug - or would buy a sensor if that's what it takes. If anyone has a suggestion or a "real" plug or sensor (as opposed to my NAPA automotive store's creative solutions), please e-mail me directly at jmoore@dixie-net.com
THANK YOU!
