Timing advanced- ignition or timing belt? 200 1979

I have a '79 245 with high miles. The car has always run well for me and is in good mechanical condition. Last weekend, I needed to get to town, and there have been several snowstorms here lately. I had to get speed up to blast through a snowdrift about 2 foot high by 20 foot long. After getting to the highway, power was compromised. I checked for water in the high tension leads, and they were fine. After shuting down and restarting, it seems the ignition is quite far advanced, as it cranks against firing on compression. though I don't know if the timing belt slipped a cog, or if it is ignition only. The distributor clamp is tight, and it did not shift, but I don't know where the ignition pickup is located on the flywheel. Is it possible this got knocked out of possition? If anyone could advise, I would appreciate it.
