Turn signal problem, bulb failure relay? 200 1986

Here's an interesting one...

Looks like my turn signals & headlights have developed a quite annoying problem. The whole thing started out with the driver side front turn signal bulb refusing to flash, instead the parking light flashes. Now, if I turn my headlights on, or push down the brake pedal, the signals go at double pace. The right side signals work just fine under any circumstances. Also, occasionally when I turn the headlights on, the high-beams are on automatically, sometimes the turn signal indicator lights on the dash stay lit (they do flash if the indicators are on).

Just to make things more intresting, after a week of giving me headaches, the damn thing started working properly for a change last saturday night. However, the very next day it was back to square 1.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Logically thinking the only place where all of these separate items are connected is the bulb failure relay. But then again, it could be a bad ground.. test leads & WD40, here I come...
