Locking Differential/Wheel 'Hop' 900

I have a '93 940-turbo wagon. I believe it has a/the "cold weather package" which I'm told includes heated seats and locking rear differential. (The manual says the diff. locks at very low speeds, then unlocks when you speed up.) So here's what's happening: When turning sharp at low speeds (i.e. into a parking spot or out of the driveway) the FRONT wheels "hop" and "skip" as if they're being pushed sideways rather than rolling forward. If the diff. is locked, I could see how it would cause this to happen. I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this "problem".

Thanks in advance for your help.
