the Volvo gods are mad 200 1983

Today was to be the last day I was to drive my trusty wagon to work - it is going to the junk yard tomorrow after 6 great years of service - and for the first time in 6 years it wouldn't start. Probably just damp spark plug wires, but funny ya. So here's how expensive it is to drive a fine Swedish automobile:

Purchase price as is in 1996 $1800 218,000 km
Cost to safety $750
Garage costs before I found this board $500 (strut, carb, timing belt, brakes)
Garage costs after I found this board $300 (exhaust)
New parts cost $500 (brakes, exhaust, tires, shocks)
Used parts cost $200 (parts car - parts sold)
Regular oil changes etc $200
Total Cost $4250 300,000 km (broken odometer at 292,000 km ) = $4250/5.75 years
= $740 / year

Thanks Guys - amazing eh?
I'll see you on the 700 board now that we have our new 87 740 GLE wagon
