Overdrive Connection 200 1984

Hey all, im new to the board, just been lurking really, but now ive got a question:
Earlier today the shift knob on my stick came off, detaching button you press to get overdrive on, so now its not going into OD, and i cant seem to figgure out how im supposed to get the male end of the connections on the button into the female part in the stick. Any ideas, tips, or solutions would be awesome, thanks :)
