Cleaned Injectors and Idle Air control Valve-- Now Idles Worse! 200 1982

I have a b21f w/ k-jet injection on my '82. Car has 135k. The car was idling rough and surging idle while cold, I suspected a sticky air control valve (this is the canister on top of the intake, do I have my terminology right???) I removed it and per the BB, flushed it out with carb cleaner and also probed the little piece on the inside with a screwdriver. While I was at it I removed the injectors and soaked them in injector cleaner for a couple of hours. Upon re-assembly the car idles much worse. (didnt replace injectors in their original location, but shouldnt matter right??) When I disconnect the Air control valve (harness), there is no change in idle. With the air control valve harness removed, I can get the idle to smooth out if I tap the valve. Also, the injectors are very loose in their holders, I didnt get a chance to clean all of the crud out of their seats in the head. Is my air control valve shot?? Does anybody have a test to see if the valve is getting the proper signals?? I did purchase some new bosch injectors and holders from The Parts Bin last night, any tips for proper installation (cleaning the seating surfaces in the head??)

thanks for the tips!!

Matt
