1990 740 to 1985 740 wheel question 700

I was trying to exchange a set of 14" alloys from 1985 740gle to a 1990 740 16 valve car with 15" alloys.

I got the back 14's on the 1990, but the front wheels won't go on!

Am I doing something wrong or are the calipers on the 1990 just too big?
