Confusing 240 Purchase. Please help 200

Hey all. Well, I'm thinking about buying a 1985 245 turbo. The car was advertised as such, and I ran the vin on the dash through carfax- everything looks great. But, it's not intercooled. WHat's up with that? Was it removed maybe? It has the stock, non-intercooled setup. It does however have a watercooled turbo and iPD suspension. I talked to the deale and they said they "lost" the registration so I have to come back. Seem wierd? Does to me. Also, in the carfax report, the last entry is is for registration issued in early 2000? Wierd huh? So the dealer's had the car for 2 years???? I guess that'd explain why they lost the reg. The body on the car is beautiful, and with all the suspension being done, I'll probably snag it but all this is a little confusing. Where else should I check for a matching vin and such?
Any thoughts?
