Fault in Exhaust Emission Control System (740) 700 1991

In September 2001 I bought a 1991 Volvo 740 s/w. In December 2001 the transmission failed and I had a reconditioned transmission fitted. Recently (February 2002) the Emmisions light appeared on the dashboard. I ran a diagnostic test for the ignition which showed that the (error 214) Seed Sensor was faulty. I also ran a diagnostic on the Fuel System which showed (232) the Adaptive Lambda Control, Lean Rich, or Idle and (131) No Ignition System RPM Signal. I am aware that there is a better Speed Sensor available. I do not know where the adaptive lambda control is housed or how to test it. Also I do not know where the ingition system RPM signal is generated, but I suspect that it may be related to the speed sensor. Any Advice on how to further determine the nature ofthese problems and how to repair them would be greatly appreciated. I am relatively inexperienced with automotive Repairs.
