Strange rear seal housing wear. 120-130 1967

I am swapping out the old felt rear seal housing on my B20 with an updated one off of my B18. I just took out the housing from my B20 and the part looks damaged. There is heavy wear on the lower left hand side of the housing where it looks like the crank shaft end was rubbing really hard. It looks like it is now out of round and there are raised burs wear the metal was deformed.

This B20 is relatively new to me so I have no clue when this could have happened, this is the first time I have taken the flywheel off of it. The housing was difficult to remove. How could the crankshaft be pushing so hard against the housing? Could the previous owner have installed it incorrectly? Could the oil pan and housing have been smushed against the shaft when I transported the engine?? Could my main bearings be that worn out? I could not detect any play in the crankshaft by hand.

I have posted some pics of the housing at:

Will the new housing end up looking like this one if I put it in?
