Just installed new front pads on my 245, first time I've done it on this car. The pistons on the calipers retracted just fine with a little pressure, and the pads went in fine. When driving the car afterwards, the brakes on the left side were dragging. I could smell the smoke quite a bit. Then I assume it burned off enough pad to stop doing that and it didn't smoke for a day or so. Then last night while racing a train I flogged the crap out of my car's engine, tires, and brakes. When I came to a stop after having driven calmly for 2-3 miles, smoke was pouring out of the left front brake and upon inspection (at night) I saw the entire rotor was glowing red hot. This was of course cool looking at first because I'd only seen this on speedvision while watching nighttime laps of the Rolex 24hrs. Of course this means my caliper is still clamping down on the rotor when it shouldn't be, but I don't know why. Anyhoo, after that while driving home that night the pedal was extremely spongy and took 3 times the travel (and distance on the road) to bring the car to a stop. I haven't driven the car since. Any ideas on what the problem could be? All brakes worked perfect before the pad change. Thanks for all the help you can give.
