Rear end noise still there?? 200 1983

A couple of weeks ago I posted a message about a problem with a noise ( grinding, metallic) that was coming and going on my '83 brick. Thanks to help from Brickboard I did some inspections on center bearing, U-joints and finally rear wheel bearing. Well everything seems OK but the noise is getting as bad as ever. Upon searching the archives I am now thinking trailing arm bushings. My question is; is this a type of noise that a worn trailing arm bushing would make, that is, a metallic grinding noise as the car is being driven on a level surface. It does seem to go away on a right turn ala bearing but the bearing appears fine. In addition is there a way of checking? I have had the rear end off the ground and ran the car in every gear and the noise doesn't appear until driven with wheels on the ground. I am thinking that the bushing would allow the axles to shift under torque changing the alignment of the driveline components. Stumped again. Any thought much appreciated as always for this marvelous site. Thanks.
PS the car has 276000 Kilometers and bushings never changed.
