Taking suggestions for best model to 'hot Rod' 900

I currently have a 93 940

I understand that the 91 model has the oversized brakes.
Also the earlier models 740/760 had a Garrett vs Mitsubishi turbo.

Any suggestions and why? Looking to buy an old volvo based on what info I get. Thank you. -Eric
