My buddy Sean needs some input. His ’84 Volvo 245 wagon is dead in its tracks. The Daisy Wagon here in Seattle is quoting $1000 for a new wiring harness and installation. That seems a bit steep for an older car. But he’d like to keep it on the road, and apparently duct tape and a pair of pliers is not a suitable fix. The Daisy Wagon’s is including a new Volvo harness in that price. What are the more affordable options? It would suck to have to junk a 240 just because of old wires. Also, are there any more affordable shops to get the work done at?
Apparently the wiring harness was patched several times by the past owner, and really needs to be replaced now. The Daisy Wagon is concerned that trying to drive the car in this condition could be a fire hazard.
Any input on this? Sean’s e-mail address is theotherdirt_head@yahoo.com.
Thanks in advance for any help you can toss our way!
